The End Times are coming…
No, it’s not your Truth Social feed.
It’s an apocalyptic musical coming-of-age tale featuring an electroacoustic blackboard!

Yes, that’s right, my very first album is coming out on 25th April on BMV Records. The first single, The Roof, is available to stream on Bandcamp right now, today. Pre-order it on Bandcamp here and pre-save it on all of your favourite platforms here.
We were lucky enough to record this LIVE at Real World Studios in Dolby Atmos back in 2023 supported by Paraorchestra during my year-long residency there. I’m posting this from Real World itself, so we have come full circle!
The End Times is based on my first novel, a twisted theological thriller. It’s inspired by the history of Corpus Christi College, Oxford, the site of a significant chunk of my misspent youth. Each track is based on a scene from the book, and many also feature passages from the text read aloud. I’ve used every facet of my music-making to create this world, from songwriting to classical to experimentalism. I created a custom designed electroacoustic blackboard, and even wrote a setting of the Latin Creed- with a twist!
We recorded the whole album completely live. The band features the amazing Dave Smith on drums, Alex Veitch on Hammond organ and David Ryder-Prangley narrating and playing the blackboard. Meanwhile I brandished the roborecorder, the electronic half of the blackboard and vocal cords. On top of that, we all got hands on with a generous helping of packing tape- more info on this bit to come later! The amazing Katie May recorded the album at Real World, after which I mixed the album with Adrian Hall, who also works with one of my all time musical heroes, Tori Amos.
You can also order your very own Liza Bec blackboard here in case you fancy doing your own sonic explorations, or would just like an attractive to-do list chalkboard for your kitchen/office/living room.
The book is currently looking for a good home- all thoughts on this are most welcome!
Please do listen/share/stream – it all really helps! Tell your mum, dad, friends, children, therapist (particularly the therapists, because I’m sure they’ll have a field day with it).
Thanks so much for listening. More news coming very soon!
