The sun is shining, birds are singing and weeds are rapidly taking over the garden. It can all only mean one thing. The End Times are coming!

This last month has been a truly wonderful and exhausting time. After receiving funding from Arts Council England for The End Times, we really had to get our skates on to make everything happen.

The end result was THE most incredible team. The experience of our final R&D was one of the most beautiful creative times of my life. Hearts and souls came together with the most wonderful enthusiasm and dedication. From rewiring the sound system, gear lugging, ladder climbing and light re-rigging, the Blackburn Studio was completely transformed. We had only a day and a half to finish the hour-long show before the sharing- not much time at all!

Every single person dedicated every ounce of their energy to making this happen. It really was a joy to witness.

On the Sunday, we were able to share the end result with a select group of people. We received the most wonderful feedback!

“Like an ever changing adventure…an Alice in Wonderland of music!“

“Made me feel like I was looking through a door into a parallel universe“

And my personal favourite:

“Sound is phenomenal…plastic recorders are actually beautiful instruments“

We have been hard at work mixing the audio and editing the video from the R&D sharing and the trailer will be coming to you very soon- in the meantime, check out these behind the scenes photos.

In between, I also travelled to Bradford to play roborecorder on a canal boat as part of Paraorchestra’s epic Bradford Progress, a two day non-stop musical epic. Vijay Venkat and I performed a two and a half hour improvised set while floating along the waterways of Bradford, including a memorable lock descent/jam alongside the Toby Brazier Quartet. Read all about it in the BBC coverage of the event here.

Next weekend the team will be travelling up to Middlesbrough for our very first performance on Sunday 8th June at the Town Hall- tickets available here. Young people are also welcome to attend our free workshop on the 9th June to get hands on with the blackboard and make some music.

You can also catch us in London on the 22nd June at the National Opera Studio, tickets available here.  There will be CDs and blackboards available to purchase at both shows in case you haven’t managed to grab one from Bandcamp.  We can’t wait!
