I’m sitting here in the garden with a large bottle of water in the sunshine freshly escaped from my fracture clinic follow up to bring you this update, hot off the knee scooter. Sadly I will not be able to speak at Classical:NEXT in Budapest tomorrow on the panel as planned. I am so sorry not to see you all and I hope to be back with you on two feet in 2027!

You may have been wondering what happened after we escaped the Austin bubble. The answer: jetlag. Jetlag and a hefty dose of stairs! Turns out that getting around at home is a lot different than a fully catered five star hotel!
After a week I’ve gotten really good at hopping up and down those stairs. Less good at capturing errant cats though. There are a few basic things I’m finding really really difficult. The countdown is on! Only two and a half weeks non weight bearing to go…
I’m usually a very active person. This accident has really been very disabling. I have been both shocked and surprised by the reactions of those around me. When you’re unable to move yourself around properly, facing physical and financial challenges, and you’re vulnerable, that is when you really find out who is there for you. And you find out who isn’t. I’m not going to name the people who have been here- you already know who you are!
The question is, who are the people who fundamentally, when the chips are down, could not give two f**** about helping in any practical way? Now I know! And I’m grateful to this injury for revealing those people with such clarity.
I’m super grateful to those who have helped and supported. Thank you from the bottom of my heart everyone who has reached out and offered! I appreciate you and I won’t forget who’s been there for me.
My next show is 24th May at Rich Mix with the fantastic Drake Music at DMLab Festival, tickets available here. I hope to be on two feet for this one!
I’ve also just had some amazing news about a big event in a couple of months time! Can’t share with you yet but looking forward to telling you all very very soon.
