Tour Talk

So we are now well and truly on tour….in fact I’m writing this while Will is driving to Mr Wolf’s in Bristol where we’ll be playing a set later tonight!

Last night we had a lovely evening at the Oakford in Reading with the fantastic Rose Segal also on the bill- Laszlo provided us with some welcome refreshments of the beer variety which got things off to a great start! I had to play through the pain thanks to a rowing induced blister on my sax thumb, but we kept it funky nonetheless.

We also got our funky matching meggings out, sent to us by Kapow- they are super comfy and definitely proving a talking point. We are just waiting for our T shirts to arrive, Lois the cat has been heavily involved in their design….!

Will got a trifle hangry after playing so we headed out for a naughty curry and ice cream…. after noshing down on 6 curries in 7 days last week the diet is definitely starting today! In fact we have been for a muddy sprint with the dog so it’s not all talk.

As if that’s not enough excitement, the trailer for Out Of Control is now online….let’s be honest, I AM getting far too excited about this! We’re keeping things mysterious for now but cant wait to show you the full short film on the 27th! We’re also doing a live acoustic Facebook broadcast at 5pm on the 27th to coincide with the video release. You can give my page a like to get more updates on this at www.facebook.com/lizabecmusic

Phew! So all we have to do now is go and play! Next stop after tonight will be the Bedford in Balham on Wed 16th- can’t wait to be back on home turf and hoping to see a few of you there!

Filming Out Of Control

It’s been a crazy few weeks- some might say uncontrollable!

I’m happy to say that Out Of Control is not only a wrap, it has also been edited by the amazing Mr Britworth and is looking fantastic! It will be ready to come right at you on the 27th November….not only that but you will also be able to pre order the EP! Everyone has been so amazing that we wanted to have a big wrap party party for cast and crew to say thanks….but then we also wanted everyone to be there! So we decided to issue a virtual invitation. We’ll be releasing the video online on the 27th as well broadcasting an acoustic performance live online from the party to celebrate!

The shoot itself involved me getting naked and ingesting various substances in a number of different ways as well as getting up close and personal with quite a few friends, including some of the tree variety. Ben stopped at nothing to get the perfect shot and I was most impressed by his dedication to duty perched atop a rather precarious ladder. I have to say it was all totally worth it looking at the final results and I can’t wait to show you all the full extent of the craziness we unleashed!

All will be revealed in the final cut so make sure you stick the 27th in your diary!

Out Of Control: Shooting tomorrow!

Greetings!

So if you take some funky saxes, fake cocaine (inositol, for all you chemists out there), a bull’s head mask and some rather spooky London woodlands, what do you get?

Well, after tomorrow’s music video shoot you’re going to find out!

You may have heard that my new five track EP, Out Of Control, is coming out on the 12th December,  featuring once more the awesome David Ryder Prangley from Sister Witch on the bass and Kamil J Krol from Bordello Rose on the drums, and we’re preparing a real treat to go with it!

I’m extremely excited to be collaborating once more with the amazing Benjamin Britworth, who directed Jealousy last year. You can check out his work here. We’ve been beavering away coming up with a gripping plotline involving blood, excess and above all a PARTY to go with the spirit of the track!

cameraI’ve just been on an emergency underwear mission (costumes!), the cameras are charging, the feast is prepared, and we are good to go!

Check my Instagram page for updates on the shoot tomorrow. Happy weekend! x

Purdue and Bec!

It’s been a busy few months for me with some fantastic and exciting new collaborations coming up and coming out- in particular with the fantastic Will Purdue!

Check out this fab live and completely acoustic video for one of Will’s songs which we shot in Bushy Park the other day- such stunning surroundings to play in and great to be completely naked, sonically speaking anyway!  The guys at Fairlight Studios have done a really fantastic job of the filming and sound and we’re looking forward to working with them again in the near future!

We’ve also literally just got back from a trip to Sweden and Copenhagen where we filmed some live acoustic videos (including two of the songs from my upcoming EP, Out Of Control!) which we hope to edit when we’ve had a chance to unpack… phew! Not only that but we had a fab photo shoot with the awesome Martin Petty in Leadenhall Market last weekend, which you’ll be able to check out when we perform at his two London exhibitions on 1st and 7th December!

Check out our UK tour dates up now with more dates and details coming very shortly.

Exciting times….

Just got back from the studio where we’ve been working on a brand new EP for release later in the year featuring three brand new tracks. Large amounts of tea were drunk to soothe our post viral vocals, although Kamil did get started on the beer later on in the session (a sign of recovery?!).  DRP was rocking the bass as always with Adie Hardy working his electronic magic- not only that but thumb pianos were involved, which is a first for me. We’ll be finishing all three tracks off later in the week.

I’ll also be supporting the mighty Pavlov’s Dog at the Underworld tomorrow night with Bordello Rose- really looking forward to this one. We’re gearing up for our album release on the 22nd June at the Black Heart Camden which should be an absolute cracker!

Finally I’m gonna be indulging my inner jazz recorder fiend in a collaboration with the fantastic Mr James Holden, including some new and sexy tenor recorder multiphonics locked and loaded for recording in June. Can’t wait to share it all with you later in the year!

Making Waves!

So the EP came out on Monday…. can’t quite believe it’s all happened in such a short space of time! You can download it here.

We just had one day in the studio and it was an absolute blast. Kamil got to indulge his inner frustration against David for the video, and Adie kept a tight leash on all concerned with Elina and John rising above it all to capture some great footage.  The video was mapped out by the end of the day and Adie then did a sterling job of editing it all together in record time and incorporating Jay’s fantastic surf footage from Ride the Tide Surf School!

Thanks so much to everyone involved for all your hard work, you are all absolute stars and I can’t wait to do it all again very soon!

Where The Waves Are Breaking EP RELEASE

Wouldn’t it be great if holidays could last forever….?

I just got back from an amazing surf trip to Barbados and figured that if I wrote some songs about it, I could capture the spirit of the ocean.  And when I’d finished writing them, I just couldn’t wait to get into the studio and record them!

So this Sunday (20th March) I’ll be at Unit 2 Studios in Acton recording three tracks in one day (!) with the fantastic Adie Hardy.  David Ryder Prangley and Kamil Krol will be joining me on bass and drums, and I’ll be on keys and doubtless blowing a few things too….

Not only that, we’re going to be filming as we go. THEN we’re going to combine the studio grime with some awesome footage from Jay Garrett at Ride the Tide surf school, who is not only a great teacher but a great surfer too.

And because nothing focuses the mind like a deadline, the EP and video will be OUT online on the 28th March!

It’s a tight schedule but life is short and holidays don’t last forever…. so I wanna take you where the waves are breaking right now!

Check out the Facebook event here for updates on how we are getting on in the studio….

love , peace and WAVES

Guerrilla video action

2015 may nearly be over….but next Tuesday night Bordello Rose will be taking over the Underworld for a guerrilla music vid shoot! The Underworld is one of our favourite venues- we’ve done a lot of great support slots there and it’ll be fantastic to have some video evidence of all the madness.

We’re then going to be supporting the lead singer from the amazing Ataris with a full band acoustic performance. I’m just recovering from a nasty bout of tonsillitis so it may be a touch on the husky side (for once!).

I’m also booking gigs for 2016 with one confirmed and lots more to come… will be posting here when I have all the details. Last but not least….here’s to addressing the Xmas present situation. Hope yours are more organised than mine right now!

Sloth

Hi all! I’m super excited to finally have my own website after owning the web hosting for around three years…. thanks Erik for your technical wizardry in installing WordPress! It’s been a busy few months with Bordello Rose, but we got there in the end….

You can listen to my new song Sloth here – accompanied by some footage of Marseille harbour I took on a little escape from London. I wrote this a few years ago while dreaming of relaxing on a beach far away from it all. Hopefully it will help you fend off the winter blues too!

I’ll have more news about solo gigs up soon. In the meantime I hope you can join Dave and I this Saturday in Finsbury Park! It’s a lovely little venue and should be a great night. xx
